1. Our Commitment

Donations.com is committed to maintaining a safe, transparent, and trustworthy platform. We implement multiple layers of verification and review to protect both supporters and recipients.

2. Verification Tiers

We use a tiered verification system to provide transparency about each account's trust level:

• ⭐ Trusted: Manually verified by Donations.com. Highest level of trust. Full platform access.
• ✅ 501(c)(3) Verified: Nonprofit status verified through IRS EIN lookup. Can use donation language and accept Stripe payments.
• ✓ Verified: Has connected crypto wallet and verified X/Twitter account (30+ followers, 30+ days old). Eligible to request Stripe access.
• ◻ Email Verified: Has connected X or Twitch but doesn't meet full verification criteria yet.
• ○ Unverified: New account with minimal verification. Crypto-only payments. Cannot access Stripe.

3. Trust Signals

On every public profile, we display trust signals to help supporters make informed decisions:

• Verification badge and tier
• X/Twitter account age (with warnings for accounts less than 30 days old)
• 501(c)(3) verification badge for confirmed charities
• Caution banners for accounts with new X profiles

4. Fraud Prevention

We employ the following measures to prevent fraud:

• X account age verification: Accounts linked to X profiles less than 30 days old cannot enable Stripe payments
• Platform account age: Users must be on Donations.com for at least 7 days before requesting Stripe
• Multi-factor identity: X/Twitter and wallet connections required for Stripe eligibility
• Manual admin review: Every Stripe request is reviewed by a Donations.com administrator
• Risk scoring: Automated risk assessment based on account signals
• Account freezing: Suspicious accounts can be immediately frozen, disabling all payments

5. Reporting

If you encounter a suspicious account, fraudulent activity, or believe someone is impersonating a person or charity, please contact us immediately at support@donations.com.

6. Transparency

All crypto payments are verifiable on the blockchain. We display transaction histories, top supporters, and blockchain explorer data on public profiles. Stripe payment records are available to both parties through their respective dashboards.

We believe transparency builds trust. Our verification tiers, trust signals, and public blockchain data help supporters make informed decisions about who they support.
